How to Add a Website to Your Google Business Profile (and What If You Don't Have One)

How do you add a website to your Google Business Profile? Sign in with the Google account that manages the profile, search your business name on Google (or open the profile in the Maps app), and choose Edit profile. Then:

  1. Open Business information and select the Contact tab.
  2. In the Website field, paste your site's full address, including the https:// part.
  3. Save. The link appears on your listing in Search and Maps as the Website button, usually within minutes.

That is the whole task. There is no approval step for a normal edit, though Google occasionally holds changes for a short review. Google's Edit your Business Profile doc covers the same flow for every field, including the appointment link, which is a separate field: your Website button and your booking button can point to different pages.

If the website is not showing on your profile

Give the edit a few hours first; changes to a Business Profile sometimes sit in review before they go live, especially on newer profiles. Then check three things. First, that you edited the right listing; owners juggling an old duplicate or a former employee's account regularly fix the wrong one. Second, that the address went into the Website field rather than the appointment field, and that it includes the https:// prefix, since a malformed address can be dropped without an error. Third, that the profile itself is healthy: if the whole listing is missing rather than just the link, the website field is not your problem, and the checklist in business not showing up on Google is where to start.

What if you do not have a website to add

An empty Website field is common, and not always from neglect: Google shut down the free websites it generated from Business Profiles in March 2024, so owners who relied on those have had nothing to put in this field since. You do not need to leave it empty while you save up for an agency build. We generate a multi-page website from the same profile you were just editing, in minutes, and the no-website fix is $75 a month with hosting, a custom domain, and edits included. Paste your profile, get the site, then come back and make the one edit above.
